doing what I loved, my life suddenly halted during the peak of the global COVID pandemic. I was struck with grief and couldn’t understand what I was feeling. Despite my nursing skills and experience, I felt overwhelmed, exhausted, and on the brink of burnout.
At the beginning of my journey to self-discovery, I realized how much I worried about what people would think if I admitted I was burned out. I convinced myself that I wasn't ready to speak up and delayed seeking support.
Overwhelmed and numb, I tried to cope but felt trapped. I kept waiting for recognition for my hard work, which made me feel unworthy, inadequate, and undeserving of the harmonious life I dreamed of. I felt like a fraud, fearing that my peers and family might see through the mask I had created.
So, I kept pretending everything was okay and showing up to work as if nothing was wrong.
As a result, I saw a significant boost in my mood, my energy levels rose, and my cheerful spark returned. I accepted that I am worthy and truly deserving of a fulfilled and peaceful life. This journey led me to achieve an internationally accredited qualification in coaching, which now enables me to help other nurses and healthcare professionals beat burnout.
Now, I arrive at work smiling, feeling happier, and experiencing a profound sense of accomplishment.
My mission is to help other nurses and healthcare professionals who are exhausted and burning out. I want to share the tools and techniques that helped me transition from doubt and overwhelm to redefining my self-worth, practicing self-
compassion, and redesigning a balanced lifestyle. I aim to empower others to show up as
their true selves, feeling a sense of profound purpose in their professional and personal
lives.
I realized that to truly enjoy life and create a balance between your personal and professional worlds, you must embrace who you are, practice gratitude in every moment, and gain crystal clarity on being your truest self without settling for less. Sheena’s coaching was what I needed when I applied for a new position in my hospital. I hadn’t applied for a job in many years, so I felt scared to write my personal statement.
